Individual psychotherapy is an effective treatment used to treat psychological symptoms and mental health issues such as depression or anxiety. Here are some things you may want to know about psychotherapy services at Insight Psychology Center:

Our individual psychotherapy services are “evidence-based,” meaning they combine scientific research, clinical expertise, and each client’s unique characteristics to develop a personalized treatment plan to meet particular needs—all within a supportive therapeutic relationship.

Your treatment will begin with a comprehensive, personalized, initial assessment of all aspects of your life, including your main reason for seeking treatment. This assessment is an essential step in tailoring your treatment options to your unique needs and situation.

We employ a strength-based, integrative therapeutic approach heavily emphasizing research-supported psychodynamic, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) interventions. Specialties include trauma, abuse, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and panic. Your progress is monitored by frequently collecting direct verbal feedback and by using standardized outcome measures (i.e., outcome checklists) to make sure your treatment goals are being met.

Collaborative care is included for clients who provide consent for consultation with their other healthcare providers (e.g., family doctor).

Individual counseling services are available for those interested in personal growth, better overall functioning, support during major life changes, improving parenting skills, and more. Counseling is distinctly different from psychotherapy. In counseling, a specific problem or issue (e.g., stress management, parenting issues) is identified as the target of treatment. The focus of treatment is on problem solving, improving coping skills, and even educating the client about their specific problem area.

Life Coaching

  • Achieve your goals

Life coaching involves guiding, supporting, and coaching clients who are committed to achieving professional goals, improving life skills, and finding balance in their lives. It is distinct from psychotherapy in that life coaching sessions are aimed at personal growth rather than reducing psychological symptoms or navigating personal problems.

Clinical psychologists (i.e., therapists with doctoral degrees, like Dr. Carey) have more training in human motivation, behavior, and learning than any other profession and are considered experts in human behavior. Clinical psychologists also have extensive training and experience in helping clients set and achieve their goals. Therefore, working with a life coach who is also licensed as a clinical psychologist allows clients access to a vast knowledge-base while receiving expert assistance in identifying, pursuing, and achieving goals.

Our life coaching services are tailored to fit each client’s individual needs. It incorporates guiding, supporting, and coaching clients who are committed to achieving professional goals, improving life skills, and finding balance in their lives. â€‹
